Addicted to love
April 18th, 2005 · No Comments
The lights are on,
but you’re not home;
Your will
is not your own;
Your heart sweats,
Your teeth grind;
Another kiss
and you’ll be mine…
You like to think that you’re immune to the stuff
(Oh Yeah!)
It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough;
You know you’re gonna have to face it,
You’re addicted to love!”

Site updates - new themes and a theme switcher
April 7th, 2005 · No Comments
Whoa! So I didn’t go to bed last night. I’ve been up all night coding, testing, fixing, coding, testing, fixing, etc. Just generally geekin’ out. This site now has three different themes which you can select by using the theme pull-down in the sidebar on the right. I’m currently undecided about which is my favourite [...]

Welp, I’m rearranging things a bit around here. I still have a bunch of clean up, etc to do. Please bear with me. If you see anything weird, please leave me a comment.

Finding the right job/person
February 2nd, 2005 · No Comments
Seth Godin has a nice series of articles (first, second, third) dealing with job-finding and person-finding.
These articles relate nicely to the Cluetrain manifesto, as well as the Hughtrain, both of which are interesting reading. Highly recommended! A very small number of companies actually ‘get it’. The vast majority, sadly, don’t.

Transitions
February 1st, 2005 · 1 Comment
Well I’ve finally gotten off my duff and moved the engine behind this weblog from Movable Type to WordPress. I spent a couple of hours earlier today making the transition. It went quite smoothly. Hopefully this will also help with the comment spam problem – I had gotten to the point that I had disabled [...]

Wow, that was one long, three month contract!

After 5 1/2 years, I’m going to miss working with some very fine people. The place was insane much of the time, but the people were great! It’s time to take a nice relaxing break and spend a lot of quality time with my women.

This is a test using NewNewsWire to post this blog entry. Let’s see if it works…
Posts…
Yup. It works. Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated. It’s not that I haven’t seen interesting things and wanted to share them. I’ve just been stupidly busy, both at work and at home. I’m working on a [...]

I’m having a hard time hearing today…
April 14th, 2003 · Comments Off
Please excuse me if I say “Huh?” often today - my ears are still ringing this morning. DJ and I saw The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) at the SaddleDome last night. Wow! I haven’t attended a Springsteen concert before. What a great show! Very high energy. If you ever get the chance to see him live, [...]

ie 6
March 5th, 2003 · Comments Off
Apologies to those who are seeing horizontal scroll bars in (at least) Internet Exploder 6. I’m not sure why ie is doing this but I’m investigating. My initial guess is that there’s a bug in ie’s rendering mode for the particular doctype that I’m using for these pages. We’ll see. One way to fix this [...]

Saw this article over on Wired News yesterday. May I just say “Yikes!”. If the story is accurate, I have to seriously question the decisions not to inform top level people and to not follow through with the request to U.S. Strategic Command. Absolutely negligent, IMO.

Tax time
February 20th, 2003 · Comments Off
Grrr. In preparation for a meeting with my accountant this weekend, I “took the day off” from my client site today to spend the time getting my corporate records/taxes/receipts/etc in order. Ugh! I’ve been soooo busy with my clients the past two years that record-keeping has lapsed. I’m paying for it now. [...]

Valentine’s
February 18th, 2003 · Comments Off
DJ and I had dinner at “The Ranch” last Friday (Valentine’s Day). I was quite amazed that I managed to stay awake, based on the amount of sleep I managed to get last week.
DJ is one lucky lady (she concurs with my observation). During dinner we exchanged gifts. I gave her her little gift bag. [...]

Sleep is good for foosball
February 17th, 2003 · Comments Off
After a way-too-long work week last week (clocked in at 68 hours), I managed to get a lot of sleep over the weekend. Feeling much better now. Last week Nixon and I lost most of our foosball matches to Joe and Nicholas. I attribute much of that to my sucky play due to the lack [...]
