Kathryn, DJ and I returned late last night – actually it was early this morning – from the Canmore Folk Festival. The music started Saturday evening and wound up late Monday night. It was, as usual, most excellent. This is our third consecutive year at the event. The first year Kathryn was ‘in’, and the past two years she was ‘out’. Last year, at 6 months of age, she was fairly immobile and we didn’t have to worry about her getting away from us. This year was a different story.

Kathryn is such a ham. She charmed everyone everywhere she went on the grounds. She amazed people with her signing ability. We started teaching her ASL (American Sign Language) when she was about 8 months old, and she has really come into her own in the last few months. Her ability to communicate via sign language is simply amazing. Her spoken vocabulary in increasing quite quickly as well. This is one bright kid — DJ and I are in such trouble.
