Saw this article over on Wired News yesterday. May I just say “Yikes!”. If the story is accurate, I have to seriously question the decisions not to inform top level people and to not follow through with the request to U.S. Strategic Command. Absolutely negligent, IMO.

Tax time
February 20th, 2003 · Comments Off
Grrr. In preparation for a meeting with my accountant this weekend, I “took the day off” from my client site today to spend the time getting my corporate records/taxes/receipts/etc in order. Ugh! I’ve been soooo busy with my clients the past two years that record-keeping has lapsed. I’m paying for it now. [...]

Valentine’s
February 18th, 2003 · Comments Off
DJ and I had dinner at “The Ranch” last Friday (Valentine’s Day). I was quite amazed that I managed to stay awake, based on the amount of sleep I managed to get last week.
DJ is one lucky lady (she concurs with my observation). During dinner we exchanged gifts. I gave her her little gift bag. [...]

Sleep is good for foosball, part the second

Welp, apparently Joe and Nicholas are suckers for punishment. Another 4-0 match to end the day. Will they never learn? Whoop! Whoop!

Sleep is good for foosball
February 17th, 2003 · Comments Off
After a way-too-long work week last week (clocked in at 68 hours), I managed to get a lot of sleep over the weekend. Feeling much better now. Last week Nixon and I lost most of our foosball matches to Joe and Nicholas. I attribute much of that to my sucky play due to the lack [...]

DJ’s Big Bash!
February 10th, 2003 · Comments Off
Well, DJ’s surprise birthday party went off without any (major) hitches yesterday.
The yoga class didn’t end until about 16:15, and I didn’t get a chance to call home with the “we’re on our way” message until about 16:25. By this time, people had already been ‘hiding’ for some time. They had been expecting the call [...]

OmniPage Pro X
February 8th, 2003 · Comments Off
I also picked up a copy of OmniPage Pro X, an OCR package from ScanSoft. Despite having a “Built for Mac OS X” label on the software, it will not install unless you have OS 9 installed on your system. What a load! It’s ReturnsVille for this one. Grrrrr. Arrrrgh.

New scanner
February 8th, 2003 · Comments Off
I picked up a new, flatbed scanner today. It’s the Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner. It’s quite an impressive scanner. I’ve scanned photos (wedding) and 35mm negatives (miscellaneous) and am quite impressed. I’m going to have lots of fun with this baby and Photoshop. Whoop!
For a review of this scanner, see Philip Harle’s review.

DJ-day minus 1
February 8th, 2003 · Comments Off
Less than 24 hours to the surprise party for DJ. No, she doesn’t know about this site. At this point, no one, other than me, does.
We have a ‘couples’ yoga class tomorrow from 13:00 to 16:00. When we get home, there will be approximately 20 people in the house to yell “Surprise!” and [...]

DJ’s Big Birthday
February 2nd, 2003 · Comments Off
DJ’s (aka da wife) big birthday is two days away, on February 4th. I’m still trying to determine what to do. I’m thinking dinner at Caesar’s. The chateaubriand for two is delicious. I’ve already purchased her presents, and I’m working on a way to ‘confuse’ her with the packaging. Yes, I am a little shit.
The [...]

Starting over…
February 2nd, 2003 · 1 Comment
I used to have a weblog, long before ‘blogs’ were popular. I lost it in a re-install of my server operating system when I didn’t back up the DOCROOT. Oops! Oh well, that was a long time ago. I had a few minutes of spare time this morning, and instead of doing truly useful things, [...]
